Becoming a Live-In Foster Parent
Unison Treatment Homes for Youth Inc. has been providing residential foster care for youth ages 8–18 in the Windsor-Essex, Ontario area since 2000. Our homes are designed to provide a family atmosphere with caring positive parenting, skills coaching, and lifelong memories to children and youth in need.
We operate as parent model homes with staff support, providing youth with life skills development, recreational opportunities and access to a broad scope of community resources and clinical services to support health and successful personal growth.
What We Offer
💵 Generous Tax-Free Stipend
Foster parents receive a generous tax-free monthly stipend, with all living expenses paid for the youth in your care.
👥 Professional Support Team
Our homes include support staff who can assist and provide relief for foster parents, and Case Managers who follow the course of goals for the youth in care.
🏫 Training & Development
Foster parents receive training and ongoing opportunities for professional development to help better prepare them for the youth we serve.
🤝 Diverse Welcome
We welcome applicants of all backgrounds — individual applicants as well as couples — with a variety of skills and experiences.
Ideal Candidate Requirements
- A mixture of education and life experience
- Valid driver's licence and vehicle (preferred)
- Clear Criminal Reference Check (vulnerable sector)
- Physician's note confirming ability to work
- Genuine care and commitment to youth welfare
